Niaz Khan is the Global CEO and Professional Independent Director at Altura Governance, with more than two decades of leadership experience across the Cayman Islands, Asia, and the United States. Having lived and worked in New York, Cayman, and Hong Kong, he brings a cross-border perspective to institutional governance, regulatory oversight, and board leadership within complex, multi-jurisdictional environments.
Prior to founding Altura Governance, Niaz spent 17 years (2008–2024) at Waystone (formerly DMS), beginning his tenure in the Cayman Islands and progressing through senior leadership roles to become Chief Executive Officer for the Cayman Islands and Asia Pacific region. Over that period, he led six business units across multiple jurisdictions and headed one of the largest business verticals within the group, delivering sustained growth over several years. He opened and launched the Hong Kong office in 2011 and later established the Singapore office in 2017, expanding the firm’s regional footprint across Greater China and Southeast Asia while contributing to cross-border acquisitions and integration initiatives.
Earlier in his career, Niaz served as an Associate at Goldman Sachs in New York, where he oversaw governance for approximately 140 investment funds representing over $22 billion in assets under management across multiple jurisdictions. He began his career at Ernst & Young, working in both New York and the Cayman Islands with a focus on asset management audit and regulatory compliance.
At Altura Governance, he focuses on board effectiveness, fiduciary oversight, regulatory alignment, and disciplined governance frameworks designed to enhance investor confidence and strengthen long-term platform resilience.
Niaz holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Baruch College, City University of New York, and is a published contributor and speaker on governance and regulatory developments within the global fund industry.
