Altura Governance today announced the launch of its global governance platform supporting alternative investment managers, investment funds, and financial institutions with governance services, regulatory expertise, and board-level oversight.
Headquartered in the Cayman Islands, with professionals based across North America, Hong Kong, and the Caribbean, Altura Governance brings together experienced industry professionals to provide independent governance solutions to investment structures operating across multiple jurisdictions.
The firm has been established to deliver institutional-quality governance services through a boutique, relationship-driven model, combining deep industry experience with practical insight into the operational and regulatory environments facing global asset managers.
Altura Governance provides governance services designed to support investment managers and financial institutions in meeting their regulatory, AML compliance, and tax compliance obligations, including U.S. partnership representative services, while strengthening governance oversight across complex cross-border investment structures.
The platform operates across multiple jurisdictions through affiliated entities, including Altura Governance (Hong Kong) Limited, which is licensed as a Trust or Company Service Provider (TCSP) in Hong Kong under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance.
Altura Governance was founded by Niaz A. Khan, a governance professional with more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to founding Altura Governance, Khan served as CEO for the Cayman Islands and Asia Pacific at Waystone, where he oversaw the firm’s governance and compliance business across those regions.
Earlier in his career, Khan served as Head of Asia for Waystone, based in Hong Kong, where he lived and worked for more than a decade and led the expansion of the firm’s presence across the Asia Pacific region.
Prior to joining Waystone, Khan worked in the financial services industry in New York and the Cayman Islands, including roles at Goldman Sachs and Ernst & Young, where he gained experience supporting financial institutions and investment structures.
Altura Governance brings together a network of senior professionals with backgrounds in governance oversight, regulatory advisory, institutional client coverage, and investment management operations, enabling the firm to support clients navigating increasingly complex global regulatory environments.
“Altura Governance was established to provide a modern governance platform that combines the agility of a boutique firm with the depth of experience typically associated with larger institutions,” said Niaz A. Khan, Global CEO of Altura Governance.
“The alternative investment industry continues to evolve rapidly, and managers increasingly require experienced governance professionals who understand both regulatory expectations and the practical realities of operating global investment structures. By bringing together seasoned professionals across North America, Hong Kong, and the Caribbean, Altura Governance is well positioned to support clients with thoughtful, independent oversight and governance expertise.”
The firm will continue to expand its global network of experienced governance professionals and expects to announce additional senior appointments and service capabilities in the coming months.
