Don W. Ebanks is the Chair of Governance Services Practice at Altura serving on the boards of hedge funds and private equity structures, as well as in advisory committee and other bespoke governance roles. He brings broad experience across regulation, compliance, restructuring, and investment management.
Don previously held senior leadership roles at Waystone, including Group Chief Compliance Officer and Global Head of Regulatory Advisory, advising global clients on regulatory strategy and governance frameworks.
Earlier in his career, he served as Executive Director within the Portfolio of Finance & Economics for the Cayman Islands Government, providing policy advice to the Financial Secretary and Cabinet Ministers and participating in legislative and regulatory working groups.
Don also served as Managing Director of the insolvency and restructuring practice at EY in the Cayman Islands with previous work in London. Prior to that, he held senior roles at the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA), including Deputy Head of the Investment Services Division and founding Head of its Compliance Division, where he oversaw enforcement matters and complex distressed fund cases.
He began his career in private banking and asset management with Coutts and Barclays Private Bank.
Don holds a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Western Ontario and is a Registered Director with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority. He is a member of the Cayman Islands Directors Association.
